The goal of IE is to work towards food freedom. This happens by going through the 10 IE principles. Some of the IE principles include: honor your hunger, finding the satisfaction factor and ultimately make peace with food.
Ellie works with people new to IE and to people that have already started their IE journey. Ellie cares about raising intuitive eaters and works with parents to help them become intuitive eaters first and how to introduce intuitive eating to their children.
Weight inclusive care means there will be no weight shaming or weight management techniques implemented in treatment. Gentle Medical Nutrition Therapy means there is NOT an "all or nothing" approach to eating even when
considering a medical condition.
Ellie works with people who have IBS, cardiovascular disease, ADHD, diabetes and hypertension.
I will not assume to know your health by looking at you.
I will learn about your food and body experiences when making recommendations.
I will look at lab results instead of your weight when accessing health.
You will never be asked to lose weight or step on the scale when working with me.
((There is one caveat to this. If you are someone with an eating disorder, your weight will be recorded for medical reasons. In this case, blind weights will be taken either at home, by your PCP or in my office.))
Now, for the most important question, will you lose weight or gain weight working with me?
I do not presume to know that answer. I cannot guarantee weight gain or weight loss. No one knows, including me, how your body will react when it is being adequately nourished. And, remember becoming adequately nourished is the goal!
So, if your ready to approach health and nutrition without a focus on weight...
"I've had a total of six gastroenterologists for my moderate to severe Crohn's Disease. Ellie has been one of the most helpful and supportive individuals that has helped me work through Crohn's, even though she is not a gastroenterologist. She has taught me ways to have a positive relationship with food with a disease that can be often limiting and scary at times. She has been the only professional to truly explain how my body works and how certain systems are connected, such as the gut-brain connection. I was lucky to meet her when my Crohn's started taking control of my life . She was able to help guide me better than my doctors. She has an understanding, holistic, effective, body-positive and food-positive approach"

"Ellie has always seemed to make me feel comfortable enough to be myself. I've shared things with her that I've never shared with people I've known for years. She is kind, gentle and soft but also strong and always advocating for patients like me. We need more people like her in this world"

"You helped me learn
You helped me grow
You taught me things I didn't know
You made me smile
You made me laugh even at nutrition facts
You not only gave me knowledge
You also taught me so many things too
From self love and also nutrition."

Every time she turned in work, her skill set augmented and it was clear that she was dedicated to excellence. Her work ethic stood out to me because of her reliable, steadfast and eager nature."

"I can not thank you ENOUGH for the last few months. I never imagined I would have made this type of progress, and I attribute it all to your compassion, support, and gentle approach. I truly feel blessed to have met you. You changed my life."

"I would definitely refer a friend to Ellie Kelsey Nutrition. For me, she was able to answer all my questions and she was able to guide me to the healthiest me I have seen in a long time. Also the educational value that I got from our talks, has motivated to follow all of her instructions into building a better me. She’s such an amazing knowledgeable person who doesn’t even let a language barrier like mine get in the way of doing what she loves to do. Over all 10 out of 10."
